Fr. Thomas McAvoy Council was founded in 1987 through the efforts of the charter 3rd and 4th degree Knights of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. It is named after Fr Thomas McAvoy, who was one of the former pastor's of our parish.  Fr. McAvoy was instrumental in providing our council with facilities suitable for our meetings, degree's and other activities of the Knights. The Fr. McAvoy Council works closely with the St. Francis of Assisi  Parish  in Lenoir, providing assistance for various projects. Our members are also involved in assistance to the local community especially Operation Lamb (LAMB) and have provided many hours in other projects for the intellectually challenged of this area..  Our council provided the man hours and material to construct a picnic pavilion on the church property in memory of Fr. McAvoy and it was so designated and named upon completion.  This pavilion has provided shelter for many wonderful occasions of our parish including outdoor mass, parish picnics and B
